The Los Angeles Chapter Charitable Trust – Who We Are – Mission & Purpose

The Los Angeles Chapter Charitable Trust (LACCT) established in 1978, is the philanthropic arm of The Los Angeles Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, dedicated to supporting community programs that uplift and empower individuals through education, health, social services, and cultural enrichment.  Through our charitable giving, LACCT provides grants and funding to impactful programs that align with our mission of service and community empowerment, to address critical needs and create opportunities for growth and success.

The Los Angeles Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, is proud that 100% of our Members in the Chapter donate annually to LACCT.

Through strategic partnerships and fundraising efforts, our members invest in education, leadership development, health initiatives, and social service programs that create sustainable change and improve lives across Los Angeles.

Our Los Angeles Chapter Charitable Trust -Signature Initiative is: Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders.

At the heart of LACCT’s fundraising efforts is our signature initiative, a reimagined version of the Cotillion Debutante Ball, now enhanced with a dynamic Leadership Institute Program designed to strengthen young women’s voices and prepare them for leadership in all areas of life.

Key Features of the Leadership Institute Program:

  • Leadership Development: A curriculum of workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities to equip young women with the skills, confidence, and insight needed to lead.
  • Empowerment & Innovation: A modernized experience that fosters critical thinking, community engagement, and personal growth.
  • Awards & Community Impact: Funds raised directly support awards for impactful programs in the community through The Los Angeles Chapter Charitable Trust.

Over the last 25 years, LACCT has provided well over $1,000,000 in grant funding to community organizations within the African Diaspora and $350,000 in awards to Cotillion participants.

About the Los Angeles Chapter of The Links, Incorporated

The Los Angeles Chapter of The Links was established in 1950, making it one of the pioneering chapters of The Links, Incorporated. For over seven decades, the chapter has remained at the forefront of leadership and community empowerment, with a proud legacy of service in Los Angeles.

With a focus on education, health, arts, and social impact, the Los Angeles Chapter works to advance the mission of The Links, Incorporated while tailoring its programs to address the unique needs of the African American community, and the Los Angeles community in general. Through LACCT, the chapter provides grants and scholarships, ensuring tangible, lasting contributions to the lives of individuals and families across the region.

The work of The Links, Incorporated is carried out through five core program facets:

  • Services to Youth – Investing in the academic success and leadership development of young people.
  • The Arts – Preserving and promoting artistic expression and cultural heritage.
  • National Trends and Services – Addressing critical domestic issues, including social justice, economic empowerment, and public health.
  • International Trends and Services – Engaging in global outreach and cross-cultural initiatives.

About The Links, Incorporated (National Organization) 

The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of more than 17,000 professional women of African descent in 299 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.

Links members contribute more than 1 million documented hours of community service annually – strengthening their communities and enhancing the nation. The organization is the recipient of awards from the UN Association of New York and the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation for its premier programs. In 2019, The Links, Incorporated was nominated for a Luxembourg Peace Prize by the Schengen Peace Foundation and recognized by the late Congressman John Lewis as a distinguished organization of outstanding community service and influence.

The outstanding programming of The Links, Incorporated has five facets which include Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services and Health and Human Services. The programs are implemented through strategies such as public information and education, economic development, and public policy campaigns.
