Presented by the Los Angeles (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated
In partnership with the Los Angeles Chapter Charitable Trust (LACCT)

The Cotillion Guild was founded to establish a legacy of connecting Cotillionettes from across generations. The Guild offers a platform for past participants to reunite, network with other remarkable women in the Los Angeles Cotillion community and support the next generation of leaders.

Deborah Beavers-Watford organized the Cotillion Guild in 2018, in memory of Josephine Blodgette Smith, a charter member, past Chapter President and past National Links Secretary. It was Link Josephine Smith’s vision to form a group of former Cotillionettes to mentor, provide support and offer opportunities to continue the circle of friendship established during the Cotillionette training for young black women leaders. We are pleased with the growth and development of the Los Angeles Cotillion Guild serving over 1,600 former Cotillionettes. The Guild is managed with the assistance of Laurel Lightner and Sheila Hill, Coordinators.

Guild members contribute to annual scholarship and award opportunities through the Cotillion Leadership Institute, helping to provide financial recognition to outstanding Cotillionettes through essay competitions and other merit-based initiatives.

Guild members are proudly recognized by a signature Cotillion Guild pin, worn as a symbol of their ongoing commitment to sisterhood, service, and scholarship.

From themed brunches to social mixers, the Guild hosts engaging events designed to celebrate shared experiences and inspire continued connection. Past gatherings have included festive celebrations at iconic Los Angeles venues, where attendees reconnected and generously supported the Cotillion Guild Award Fund through the Los Angeles Chapter Charitable Trust.

Cotillionette’s are eligible to join the Cotillion Guild in the 4th year following their Cotillion. Cotillionette’s, who are not yet eligible for Guild membership, are invited to participate in Cotillion Guild activities and events as an interest group.
